This week's Style Crop post is based on items inspired by August's Sturgeon Moon, the latest moon from Monday night which was a partial lunar eclipse. It was gorgeous and felt very symbolic after my friend shared with me an article about its meaning.
The moon earned its name because the sturgeon fish was easiest to catch within the Great Lakes and Lake Superior during that time of the year. I've paid more attention to astrology lately (not daily horoscopes) as I believe there are general energy ebbs and flows that can be described through the astrological timing just like the tides, plus it's fun and helpful to reflect.
The words shared with me are found on this post from Mystic Mama and the lines that really stood out to me are:
“A lunar eclipse reminds us just how vital it is to attend to our inner world, our emotional life, to listen to the storm within, not push it down in the hope it will eventually go away.
It won’t. For that storm is you and me and everybody: feelings and emotions passed down through the ages like a baton in a relay, denied and ignored, repressed and avoided, simply wanting and waiting to be heard.
Things previously confused and confusing are now made clear. But they must be further obscured before clarity is born.
In the darkness of this lunar eclipse we may encounter a sense of dread or despair, as if the light threatens never to return. But these moments will be brief and simply set the scene for the coming illumination of truths previously hidden in the shadows.
This is not arcane knowledge accessible only to the ‘chosen few’ but instead an everyday revelation that makes sense of things we feared we’d never understand."
My revelations are still rolling in over this time, but in general I find it helpful to keep pushing past comfort zones and when you become aware of something new about yourself to explore it and not resist it.
